Contractor social media

Posting cadence

4 posts per week. Mon project showcase, Wed educational, Fri social proof, Sat behind-the-scenes. Times: 7am or 6pm weekdays, 9am Saturday.

Content mix

40% project showcases, 20% educational, 15% behind-the-scenes, 15% social proof, 10% promotional.

Platform rules

Instagram: Hook in first line. Max 5 hashtags on separate line. Carousel posts outperform single images. Reels get 2-3x reach. Facebook: No hashtags ever. Links are fine. Longer captions OK. Groups > Pages for engagement. TikTok: Hook in first 3 seconds. Vertical video only. Behind-the-scenes and transformation videos perform best.

Writing rules

  • Capitalize first letter always
  • Max 1 emoji per post
  • Never "Happy Monday!" or "Hope everyone's having a great week!"
  • Write like a real person in the trade, not a marketing agency
  • Before/after transformations are the #1 performing content type

Review responses

5 stars: name, reference work, 2-3 sentences, vary openers. 4 stars: thank, acknowledge improvement. 1-3 stars: name, no defense, "call me at [phone]." Fake: "Can't find your name in our records. Call me." NEVER say "Thank you for your kind words!"

Facebook Group strategy

Private group. "[Area] Homeowners & Property Tips." Weekly: Mon discussion, Wed educational, Fri community. Engage within 4 hours. Help first, mention services second.
