Rules

  3. Send command: Use the
    chrome_send_command_to_inject_script
    tool to communicate with the injected script and trigger the above event. The command format is as follows:
    • Get elements:

  4. Follow best practices:
    • Layout and Alignment: Plan the overall layout reasonably, ensure that elements are appropriately spaced, and use alignment tools (such as top alignment and center alignment) as much as possible to make the chart neat and orderly.
    • Size and Hierarchy: Core elements should be larger, and secondary elements smaller to establish a clear visual hierarchy. Avoid making all elements the same size.
    • Color Scheme: Use a harmonious color scheme (2-3 main colors). For example, use one color to represent external services and another to represent internal components. Avoid using too many or too few colors.
    • Clear connections: Ensure arrows and connector lines have clear paths, avoiding crossing or overlapping. Use curved arrows or adjust

1. Put text into an element

Scenario: When an element contains a descriptive text, for example, there is a text in rectangle a, then the text must be associated with a

Principle: A two-way link must be established. The container element points to the text through boundElements, and the text points back to the container through containerId

Process:

  1. Create unique IDs for shape and text elements
  2. In the text element, add a containerId attribute with the shape's id as its value.
  3. (Required) Call updateElement to update the shape element and add a boundElements property whose value is an array containing references to the text elements.
  4. To ensure center alignment, it is recommended to set the text element's

2. Binding: Connecting Arrows to Elements

Scenario: When an arrow or line needs to connect two elements, a binding relationship must be established

Principle: A bidirectional link must be established. The arrow points to the source/target element through start and end, and the source/target element must also point back to the arrow through boundElements.

Process:

  1. Create unique ids for all participating elements (source, target, arrows)
  2. (Required) Call updateElement to update the arrow element and set startBinding: { "elementId": "source element id", focus: 0.0, gap: 5 } and endBinding (similar to startBinding)
  3. (Required) Call updateElement to add a reference to the arrow ID in the boundElements array of the source element and the target element respectively.

3. Grouping: Grouping multiple elements

E. Best Practices Reminder

  1. ID is key: When building any relational diagram, make it a habit to pre-assign and consistently use unique
    id
    s to core elements.
  2. Build the object first, then the relationship: Make sure the target object (with
    id
    ) already exists in the list of elements you are sending before creating the arrow or putting text into the container. After the connection/arrow is bound, update the boundElements property of the corresponding element
  3. Arrows/Lines Must Be Binded to Elements Arrows or lines must be linked to corresponding elements in both directions, e.g. eleA arrow eleB, both must be linked in both directions
  4. Uniformly update binding relationships It is recommended to use updateElement to uniformly update the two-way binding relationship between (text/element) (arrow/element) (connection/element).
  5. Hierarchical organization: Complex charts are logically partitioned using Frames, with each Frame focusing on a functional domain.
  6. Coordinate Planning: Plan your layout in advance to avoid overlapping elements. Typically, spacing is set to 80-150 pixels.
  7. Size consistency: Keep elements of the same type similar in size to establish visual rhythm.
  8. Clear the current canvas before drawing, and refresh the current page after drawing
